THE following cases were among those heard at Teesside Magistrates’ Court during the last week.

ROBERT JAMES BENSON, 31, of Fremantle Crescent, Middlesbrough, was given a 20-week prison sentence, suspended for two years after pleading guilty to selling tracksuits and trainers with a registered trade mark. He admitted 12 charges relating to items including Nike Air Max trainers, Hugo Boss tracksuits, Gym King tracksuits, Ugg boots and Adidas trainers. He also admitted storing fireworks without holding a licence. He will have to carry out 25 days of rehabilitation activity.

SAMANTHA BEST, of Spring Street, Stockton, was fined £220 after failing to ensure her child attended school. The 34-year-old did not attend court and the case was proved in her absence. She was also given costs of £130 and a victim surcharge of £32.

KASIM AHMED, of Green Lane, Middlesbrough, was fined £120 after admitting to driving a taxi without a licence or the correct insurance. Ahmed, 22, was also told to pay costs of £150 and a victim surcharge of £32 and his driving licence was endorsed with six points.

GARETH BRECKON, 39, of Redcar Road, Guisborough, pleaded guilty to driving above the 50mph speed limit on the A690 near Houghton Cut, between Durham and Sunderland, on October 23, 2018. He was driving at 58mph. His licence was endorsed with three points and he was fined £142, told to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £30.

SEAN FULLER, of Birkhall Road, Middlesbrough, was fined £220 after failing to microchip a dog. Fuller failed to microchip the male shih tzu cross breed between July 19 and August 28 last year, after being served a notice by Middlesbrough Borough Council. The case was proved in his absence.

ALICE LEVITT, of Woodland Road, Middlesbrough, appeared in court after failing to pay her train fare of £2.60 at Thornaby Station. The 25-year-old has to pay £2.60 in compensation and was given a fine and costs totalling £145.

BARBARA EDITH CARLESS, 28, was given a conditional discharge after pleading guilty to obstructing a constable. Carless, of Bradhope Road, Middlesbrough, was told to pay costs of £85.

SCOTT BRITTAIN, 33, was banned from driving after pleading guilty to driving while above the alcohol limit. Brittain, of Wrightson Street, in Stockton, was also fined £408 and told to pay costs totalling £120. He was banned for 36 months.

SAMANTHA DAVIES and RACHAEL FINLAY appeared in court after abusing their positions as customer service assistants at Argos for financial gain. Davies, 41, of Eggleston Road, Redcar, and Finlay, 43, of Wilton Avenue, Redcar, were both given a 16-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. They were both told to pay compensation of £2,000 and have to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work.

PETER JOHN HAGGERTY, of Ellerbeck Way, Ormesby, was given a community order after stealing £263.77 of cosmetics from Boots in Redcar. He has to do a drug rehabilitation activity and was made to pay costs of £130 after pleading guilty.

TALAB RAMZAN, 41, of Bridge Street West, Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to stealing £78 from the Debenhams in Middlesbrough, He was fined £80 and given costs of £72.

ALEXANDER BOLTON, 36, of Stotfold Street, Hartlepool pleaded guilty to driving with drugs in his system and driving without a licence and without insurance. He was given a 12-month community sentence with an unpaid work and rehabilitation requirements. He was also banned from driving for 12-months and told to pay £170 in court fines and charges.

RICHARD CUNNINGHAM, 42, of Arundel Green, Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to drink driving and was given a community order with 160-hours unpaid work. He was also banned from driving for 24-months and ordered to pay £170 in court charges.

CHLOE GASKELL, 20, of Stephen Street, Hartlepool, pleaded guilty to assaulting two police officers and was given a community order with an electronically-tagged overnight curfew for 12-weeks. She was also told to pay £440 in compensation and court charges.

LAZZGIN KHALIL, 35, of Northcote Street, Stockton was found guilty of using abusive words towards two members of the public and assaulting a man. He was given a community order with a 12-week electronically-tagged overnight curfew and rehabilitation requirement. He was also ordered to pay £85 in court charges.

NATASHA KING, 38, of Finchley Court, Middlesbrough, was found guilty of driving while disqualified and was given a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 12-months. She was banned from driving for three years and 13 days. She was also given a rehabilitation requirement and told to pay a total of £742 in court charges.

HANNAH KINGSLEY, 50, of Chertsey Avenue, Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified, with drugs in her system and without insurance. She was given a community order with rehabilitation requirement, disqualified from driving for 36-months and ordered to pay £130 in court charges.

DONNA MAUDE, 37, of Sussex Walk, Norton, Stockton, stole £3,150 from McColls when working as store manager between September 29 and October 29, 2019. She was given a 20-week prison sentence, suspended for 12-months and ordered to pay £3,150 in compensation. She was also given a 12-month supervision order with a rehabilitation requirement.

JAMES GARTHWAITE, 67, of Paignton Drive, Hartlepool, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman and was given a community order with rehabilitation requirement. He was also ordered to pay £175 in court charges.
