POLICE have issued a dispersal order for the area of Stockton town centre after a number of incidents of antisocial behaviour and crime this week.
The order gives the police the power to disperse large groups of youths from the area for a period of 48 hours. Anyone who does not comply or returns to the area within 48 hours can be arrested.
The area included in the dispersal order covers Riverside Road, Maritime Road, Wilson Street, Victoria Street, Prince Regent Street and Bridge Street. Also incorporating Bright Street, Russell Street and Dovecot Street.
A Cleveland Police spokesman said: “The dispersal order sends out a clear message to youths that antisocial behaviour and criminal activity will not be tolerated under any circumstances. “We are committed to ensuring Stockton is a safe place to live and work and we want to reassure people we are taking action to tackle issues caused by this behaviour.”
