AN investigation is underway after the bodies of two people were found in a house.

Police were called shortly after 10am on Wednesday after reports of concern for a woman at a house on Satley Gardens in Sunderland.

Emergency services attended and found the bodies of a man and a woman inside the property. Their next of kin have been notified.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “Enquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths, but at this early stage it is not believed that there was any third party involvement.

“Officers remain in the area to carry out enquiries and there is no wider threat to the public.”

The North East Ambulance Service confirmed that it sent two double-crewed ambulances to the scene alongside two of its Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) crews and a critical care manager to the house.
