STUDENT volunteers have illustrated a inspirational poetry anthology supporting people living with cancer.

The Interact club at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form, Darlington, are a group of students who have come together on a voluntary basis to do good in their local and national community.

Members of the group provided artwork for the poetry collection Knitting Together, wrote by cancer patient, Bill Craggs, who wanted to support others going through the same treatment as him. The name of the collection symbolises how those touched by cancer are brought together.

Running with the theme of coming together, students worked closely with Mr Craggs to design the book.

The group worked with Pat Chambers from County Durham and Darlington NHS Trust, to get the books sold in local hospitals, with all proceedings going towards cancer care units.

Petra Buckle, President of the Interact Club, said: "It was great to work with Billy and help create a book full of his works, whilst raising money for a great cause."
