BULLDOG lovers united on Sunday to walk for a good cause.

Volunteers and supporters of The Edward Foundation (EF), a charity which helps to rescue and rehabilitate abandoned or mistreated bulldogs, attended the bulldog bonanza in South Park in Darlington. The group meet every second Sunday of the month at various locations across the North East, next month being Tynemouth.

Lee Turner from Darlington, who brought his dogs Bertie and Bettie along to the walk, said: "Since the walks started up a few years back I've made good friends from the group.

"The meet ups provide a great opportunity for owners, and foster owners, to get together and share advice whilst the dogs have the chance to socialise and excise. I'm a longtime member of EF and have fostered bulldogs many times. My role is to anaylse the needs and personality of each individual foster dog, and help to match them to their perfect forever home. It is incredibly rewarding, and it's nice to meet other like-minded people."
