THE following cases were heard by County Durham and Darlington Magistrates' Court, sitting at Newton Aycliffe and Peterlee, this week:

JOHN Henry Corrigan, 33, of Broome Road, Durham, pleaded guilty to the criminal damage of house rendering and a plant pot and to harassment of a woman, in Sacriston on February 9. He also admitted criminal damage of a window and house front and damaging a Mercedes car, both in Spennymoor on the same date, and making a phone call to cause anxiety or distress. He was given prison sentences of four and 12 weeks, suspended for 24 months, which run concurrent and made the subject of three restraining orders and ordered to pay compensation totalling £500 to three victims.

ADAM Leonard, a 28-year-old inmate at Durham Prison, admitted assaulting a prison officer by beating. He was committed to prison for six months and ordered to pay £200 compensation.

CONNOR John Dulson, 20, of Plantation Terrace, Fir Tree, near Crook, admitted driving a Skoda otherwise in accordance with a licence and without insurance at Crook on September 29 last year, and driving off from a petrol station at Helmington Row without paying for £62.81 of petrol. He was given an 18 month conditional discharge, his driving licence was endorsed with six points and he must pay £62.81 compensation. He was given a further 18 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £400 compensation for damaging a bus stand in Crook last May 25 and failing to answer court bail in that case.

SAMARA Bamling, 20, of Raby Road, Ferryhill, admitted driving a Renault Clio at Bishop Middleham on January 26 after consuming excess alcohol. She was fined £200, banned from driving for a year and ordered to pay £85 CPS costs and a £32 victim surcharge.

CONNER Andrew Learoyd, 25, of Clifton Road, Darlington, admitted possession of class B drug cannabis, class C drug valium, failing to provide a specimen of breath, driving without insurance and otherwise in accordance with a licence. He was given a community order with 180 hours of unpaid work within 12 months, banned from driving for a year, and ordered to pay a total of £175 in court costs. All the offences happened in Darlington on December 5, which he admitted put him in breach of a suspended sentence order for which he was given a four week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.

JONATHAN Stainthorpe, 30, of Ninth Street, Blackhall Colliery, admitted possession of a lock knife without lawful excuse in Station Lane, Hartlepool, last November 13. He also pleaded guilty to failing to answer police bail in December. He was given a community order with a rehabilitation activity requirement of up to 15 days and ordered to pay £90 for victim services and £85 to the CPS.

PAUL Anthony Bailey, 47, of Seventh Street, Horden, was found guilty by North Northumbria Magistrates of harassment in Blyth last June. Newton Aycliffe magistrates sentenced him to six weeks custody, suspended for 18 months during which time he will be required to participate in activities required by the responsible officer. He was ordered to pay £100 compensation, £520 to the CPS and a £60 victim surcharge. Further consecutive prison sentences were imposed, also suspended for 18 months, and banned from driving for 26 months for failing to surrender to court bail, driving whilst disqualified and without insurance.

ALAN Hogarth, 40, of West Park, Coundon, pleaded guilty to stealing a bank card in Stanley on April 30, 2019, then committing fraud by dishonestly using it to gain £2,903. He was given a community order with requirements including 150 hours unpaid work, ordered to pay the full amount in compensation.

RAYMOND Inwood, of Ullswater Close, Spennymoor, admitted using threatening of abusive words or behaviour likely to cause distress in Durham on January 29. The 58-year-old was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 to the CPS and £32 to fund victim services.

TERRY Sayers, 34, of Buckinghamshire Road, Durham, was fined £733 and disqualified from driving for three years after pleading guilty to driving on South Road, Durham City, after consuming excess alcohol. He was also ordered to pay £85 CPS costs and £73 victim surcharge.

BRAYDON Kane Wood, 18, of Commercial Street, Willington, admitted drunk and disorderly behaviour and possession of class A drug diamorphine in Crook on October 12, last year. He was given a six month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 to the CPS and £21 victim surcharge.

JOHN David Rowley, 22, of Jolly Beard Gate, Alston, pleaded guilty to stealing a sheep carcass in Stanhope between October 22 and 23 last year. A community order with a tagged curfew was made and he was ordered to pay £90 compensation, victim surcharge of £90 and £85 to the CPS.

DANIEL Thomas Armstrong, 28, of Frederick Street, Seaham, admitted resisting a PC in the execution of his duty at Seaham on October 23, last year. He was given a six month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a total of £106 costs.

KIERAN Buckley, 24, of Crosby Street, Darlington, was fined £660, ordered to pay £100 compensation, £66 victim surcharge and £85 to the CPS after he was found guilty in his absence of using racist words or behaviour likely to cause distress in Darlington on September 6, 2019.

RICHARD Singh Chinna, 47, of Northgate, Darlington, stole items worth £2.99 from WH Smiths at Darlington Railway Station. He was given a six month conditional discharge, ordered to pay £21 victim surcharge.
