A GRANDMUM who experiments with molecular gastronomy in her kitchen has been cooking up a storm for world-renowned chefs.
Lynn Watson, of Peterlee, appeared on Channel 4's new food competition Crazy Delicious, alongside "food gods" Heston Blumenthal, Niklas Ekstedt and Carla Hall on Tuesday night.
The show challenges creative cooks to produce original meals using ingredients plucked from the world’s first edible set.
In one of the challenges Lynn attempted to make an edible Bloody Mary in the shape of a giant macaroon. But it did not dry in time.
She said: "We then had to reinvent the chicken pie. Our family love Indian food so I decided to make a curry in a giant egg made of pastry. That was it. I never got through to the final round.
"Even though I didn't make it through the whole experience was so fantastic. It is something I will take with me forever."
Lynn, who used to work as a painter and decorator, said it was only when her son was 14 and started competing in kickboxing competitions that she started to develop an understanding about food and took on a whole new level of interest.
Since her sons have now flown the nest, she finds herself in the kitchen daily; singing, dancing and experimenting with whatever ingredients she can get her hands on.
The new competition is presented by foodie and comedian Jayde Adams.
