A PERVERT who downloaded child sex abuse videos and pictures within 24 hours of being released from prison is back behind bars.

Stewart Tivendale was caught with hundreds of downloads on his mobile phone when police called at his Middlesbrough home.

The 24-year-old was jailed for three years in 2018 after he admitted collecting and sharing pictures and videos of abuse and incited boys and girls online to send photographs and carry out disgusting acts.

Teesside Crown Court heard how he amassed more than 600 pictures and videos – 161 of the highest category of abuse – in little over two weeks following his release on licence.

Harry Hadfield, prosecuting, outlined the contents of some of the horrific videos that Tivendale had downloaded from social media and then shared amongst like-minded sexual deviants.

He said: "He told police that he was able to identify other users who had similar interests, he discovered other terms that he recognised and give the people his user name.

"He said he asked these individuals for images and he received indecent images and shared these with other users.

"The defendant refused to tell the police what the indicators were that helped to find like-minded people."

Tivendale was released from custody on October 25 and officers from Cleveland Police visited his home on The Crescent, Middlesbrough, the check whether he was complying with the conditions of his sexual harm prevention order (SHPO).

As a result, the defendant pleaded guilty to three charges of making and distributing indecent images and three of possession of indecent images.

John Nixon, in mitigation, said his client admitted downloading the images but made no effort to contact any underage children, so there was no serious risk of harm.

Judge Peter Armstrong sentenced Tivendale for an extended period of five years and issued him with an indefinite SHPO for his 'distorted proclivities'.

"If it is thought that these images are not a cause of serious harm needs to think again," he said. "You were systematically looking to get on these forums to discover other people who are similar minded to you."
