TWO people have been arrested after a serious assault which left a man in hospital.
Police were called just after 7.15pm on Thursday to reports of an assault in Forster Street, Darlington.
One man sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital, a police spokeswoman said.
Two men were arrested.
Inquiries are ongoing and police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Darlington last night (January 16).
“The incident happened just after 7.15pm in Forster Street, with one man sustaining serious injuries and being taken to hospital.
“Two men have since been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.
“If you have any information call 101 and quote incident reference number 358 of January 16.”
