POLICE are appealing for information after a 45-year-old man was attacked as he walked home from the pub.
The Spennymoor man was walking along the town's Grayson Road last Friday when he was set upon in an apparently unprovoked attack.
At about 8pm a male in his 20s, about 5ft 8ins tall, with short dark hair and in the company of three females, assaulted the man.
"He received quite a nasty injury to his right eye having been punched in the face," said PC Dave Greenwell.
"He wasn't seriously hurt but he did require hospital treatment.
"It is quite an isolated stretch that the man was walking along on his way home from The Binchester pub, but we are hoping that perhaps a passing motorist saw something."
Anyone with information is asked to call PC Greenwell at Spennymoor Police on 0845-60-60-365.
