CASES heard at Harrogate Magistrates' Court this week include:

MATTHEW CHRISTIAN DOUGLAS AVEYARD-COWX, 22, of Claro Barracks, Chatham Road, Ripon, admitted to drink driving. He was fined £318, ordered to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. He was disqualified from driving for 19 months.

BARTOSZ KRZYZANSKI, 33, of Bondgate Green Lane, Ripon, admitted to drink driving. He was given a community order of 80 hours unpaid work over the next 12 months, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £90 and £85 court costs. He was disqualified from driving for 23 months.

JAMES NOLAN, 22, of Victoria Avenue, Ripon, admitted to assaulting a police officer by beating her at Harrogate Police Station. He was given a community order of 80 hours unpaid work to be completed over 12 months. He was also ordered to pay £100 compensation, £90 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

PASORRIE SANYANG, 42, of Franklin Road, Harrogate, admitted to having cannabis in his possession. He was given a six month conditional discharge, a £21 victim surcharge, and £85 court costs.

DAVID PAUL SPENCE, 42, of Dalby Avenue, Harrogate, admitted to being involved in the production of 15 cannabis plants, and for having cannabis in his possession. He was given a community order of 80 hours unpaid work to be carried out over the next 12 months, and to pay a £90 victim surcharge, and £85 court costs.

REBECCAH VICTORIA HOLDING, 44, of St George's Walk, Harrogate, admitted to drink driving. She was fined £120, with a £32 victim surcharge, and £85 court costs. She was disqualified from driving for 21 months.

BENJAMIN LUKE STEEL, 30, of Burns Way, Harrogate, admitted to five counts of theft of alcohol from Co-Op in Harrogate. He was fined £80, with a £32 victim surcharge and £85 court costs and £87.50 in compensation.

MATTHEW LIAM TUCK, 25, of Bower Street, Harrogate, admitted to stealing alcohol from Marks and Spencer in Harrogate. He was sent to prison for two weeks, due to his previous record. He was also ordered to pay compensation of £103.

CHRISTOPHER STEPHEN BYRNE, 58, of Hornby, Northallerton, admitted to speeding on the A19 near Knayton, Northallerton. He also failed to give required information to police of the driver. He was fined £138, with a £30 victim surcharge, and £85 court costs. His licence was endorsed with three points.

ADAM JOHNSON, 26, of Eskdale Road, Whitby, admitted to driving over the swing bridge, Whitby, without due care and attention. He was fined £660, with a £30 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. His licence was endorsed with seven penalty points.

IVANO RINALDI, 65, of Rosemount, Sunderland, admitted to speeding on the A19 at Easingwold. He was fined £100, with a £30 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with three penalty points.

DARREN CASSIDY, 50, of North Stainley, Ripon, admitted to speeding on the A168. He was fined £169, with a £30 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. He was disqualified from driving for six months.

ARFHAN AZAM, 39, of Grays Road, Stockton-on-Tees, admitted to speeding on the A1(M) in North Yorkshire. He was fined £276 with a £30 victim surcharge and £85 costs. His driving licence was endorsed with six penalty points.

ASHLEY JOHN HASTINGS, 35, of Collingwood Street, Coundon, was found guilty of entering Bush Tyres in Flaxby, York, as a trespasser, and stole a till to the value of £70 and £85 cash inside. He was given a community order to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He was also ordered to pay £90 compensation, £90 victim surcharge and £620 court costs.

LEON STEPHEN ELDER, 19, of Avenue Grove, Harrogate, admitted to the theft of alcohol from Asda in Harrogate. He was given a six month conditional discharge, and to pay £27 compensation. He was also ordered to pay £21 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

WAYNE GOLDSMITH, 41, Cheltenham Crescent, Harrogate, admitted the theft of various items from Poundland in Harrogate. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £21.

DAVID HULLAH, 63, of Greenfields Road, Harrogate, admitted to driving while under the influence of alcohol. He was fined £285, with a £30 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. His licence was endorsed with 10 penalty points.

MICHAEL ANDREW CRANFIELD, 31, of Regent Street, Harrogate, admitted to using threatening words or behaviour towards another. He was ordered to attend a Thinking Skill programme, and pay £175 costs.
