OFFICERS in Darlington are investigating an arson in which a vehicle was set alight twice in one evening.
Emergency services were called to Hundens Lane, in Darlington, shortly after 9pm on Tuesday, November 26 following reports a car was on fire.
Firefighters attended and swiftly put out the blaze.
A further report was then received shortly after midnight stating the same vehicle was ablaze again.
Police and fire attended the scene once again and the vehicle was recovered for examination.
PC Emily Robson, from Darlington CID, said: “We are treating this incident as arson and are carrying out a number of enquiries to trace those responsible.
“We believe this was a targeted attack and want to reassure the local community that we do not believe they are at risk.”
Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 409 of November 26.
