A WOMAN was threatened by a man with a machete before she was robbed near a Fish and Chip shop in Harrogate.

The woman had left Costcutter on Skipton Road and walked down an alleyway near Jenny's Fish and Chips when the alleged incident took place.

Police said at some point between 6.45pm and 7.15pm on Saturday, December 7, a man described as a white male with dark hair carried out the robbery.

Officers investigating the incident said they were now hoping to track down witnesses, including a woman with a 'double or triple' pushchair.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "The man is described as white with dark hair and wearing a dark, sky blue jacket and dark trousers.

"The victim is 5ft 1 with long blonde hair and was wearing sandy coloured trousers with the braces hanging down and a black jacket with a fur hood.

"We are asking for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have information which could assist with the investigation.

"In particular, we are looking for a woman with a double or triple pushchair and dark hair that walked past the location just before the victim was threatened."
