A NORTH Yorkshire nursery is top of the class after winning approval from Government education officials.

Darlington College at Catterick childcare centre was praised in all key areas following an official report by the Government education watchdog Ofsted.

The centre, which cares for more than 65 children aged between six weeks and 14 years, was classified as good.

The inspection monitors five key areas of outcome for children including health, safety, enjoyment and achievement, positive contribution and organisation.

Centre manager Jackie Hawthorne said she was delighted with the report.

She added: "It is recognition of our high standards of childcare and education and the hard work and dedication put in by all our staff.

"We are very focused on meeting the needs of every individual child here at the centre."

Inspectors said children who attended the Catterick childcare centre made good progress with a host of development opportunities. The report also focused on the strong relationships built between parents, children and staff.
