A CARER'S association in Thirsk is marking its 15th anniversary with a party for members.
The Thirsk Carers Support group is part of the Thirsk, Sowerby and District Community Care Association service.
It began in Thirsk Town Hall with a few volunteers providing a service in Thirsk and surrounding villages.
It now operates from the Middleton building, just off the Market Place.
The service provides volunteers to sit with people so their regular carer can have a few hours' break.
Service co-ordinator Gill Burn said: "I am extremely proud of all the support that the volunteers are able to give carers in our area.
"What is clear from discussions I have with carers is that the one thing they value the most is some time out - just a couple of hours when they know that the person they care for is in safe hands until they return."
The party will be in the Golden Fleece, in Thirsk Market Place, on Wednesday, November 14.
