A NATIONAL campaign to help people quit smoking visited venues across Teesside yesterday.
Organisers behind The Big Quit campaign were at Asda Billingham, Asda Thornaby and The Life Store, in Middlesbrough, offering motivational support and advice.
Smokers were given a DVD and a credit card-size leaflet to help them quit.
Joan Chapman, NHS stop smoking manager, from Middlesbrough, said: "The Big Quit campaign has really brought quitting smoking to life, and offers people who want to quit a real chance to do so.
"If anyone is thinking about quitting, you should do it now.
NHS Stop Smoking services in the North-East are the best in the UK, so make the most of this and use the support that's available to you."
Ailsa Rutter, director of Fresh - Smoke Free North- East - said: "The Big Quit is the perfect chance for people to finally make the decision to quit.
"It has helped to keep the momentum from the smokefree law that came into effect in July."
