Darlington Mowden Park face a mid-table battle at home to promoted Caldy in National Three North with the Cheshire club lying one place above them.

The visitors' goal-kicker is Simon Mason, who was with Newcastle while a student in the mid90s and has played for several North-West clubs since.

The expected back row selection dilemma for Mowden has eased as the Falcons have recalled Ed Williamson, while students Rob Fahrenheim and Scott Riddell are unavailable.

New Zealander Tony Begovich has to be content with a place in the second team, however, where Ian Keeligan will also be returning after illness.

Aaron Myers continues at open side with Phil Dawson at six and Peter Browne at No 8, while another Newcastle Development player, Ciaran McNicholas, partners Chris Wearmouth at lock.

This will be Wearmouth's last game before leaving for Australia, but he is required as Iain Robinson dislocated a knee in training and Luke Monument is working.

Mowden retain twins James and Chris Clark in the threequarters, and with skipper Jamie Connolly and fly half Jon Benson returning Charlie Raynor drops to the bench and there is no place for Ben Snook.

The coaches have stressed that they were very pleased with the performances of those brought in for last week's cup win against Scunthorpe, when Snook scored 24 points.

Iain Dixon stays at full back as Alex Tait will be in Paris watching his brother, Mathew, in the World Cup final.
