Hull 51 Darlington 11
Darlington lost 51-11 at Hull after leading 11-0, the consolation being that the three other clubs on two points also lost.
Newly-arrived Australian lock Frank Jennings injured a medial ligament in the warm-up and will be out for three to five weeks.
Coach Kevin Robinson said: "We were looking comfortable, but after they scored their first try heads went down and we capitulated.
People have to look at themselves because for the next 30 minutes it was our worst performance of the season."
Robinson singled out young centre Charlie Catterall and No 8 Tom Wilkinson as two players who stood up to the battering after seeing his side go ahead through a try by winger Gavin Clegg and two penalties by Evan Haigh.
