PLANS are under way for one of the region's biggest fireworks events.
Thousands of people are expected to visit South Park, in Darlington, tomorrow for the town's annual display.
The event is being supported by Shepherd Construction and radio stations Century FM and Alpha 103.2.
Gates will open at 6pm, with entertainment starting at 6.15pm.
The bonfire will be lit at 7pm and the main display will start at 7.30pm.
Darlington Borough Council events manager Jeff Dawson said: "We want to encourage everyone to come to the South Park event and not hold their own individual displays on the grounds of safety."
Stewards and plain-clothed and uniformed police will be on site to ensure alcohol and fireworks are not brought on to the showfield.
The public are advised to come to the event by public transport because of a predicted lack of parking.
Road closures will be in place around South Park from 5pm to 9pm.
The forecast for Saturday is for cloud, with a night-time low temperature of 2C.
