AN 84-year-old man has been left with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Middlesbrough.
It happened on Acklam Road at the junction with Trimdon Avenue in Middlesbrough just before 9pm on Friday night.
The pedestrian was crossing the road when he was hit by a grey VW Golf.
He suffered multiple fractures to his limbs and to his ribs, as well as abdominal injuries and he remains in James Cook University Hospital.
The 17-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of aggravated TWOC, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and on suspicion of other driving offences.
He has been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
Anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw the grey VW Golf travelling north along Acklam Road, the collision itself or anyone may have captured the collision on their dash cam is asked to contact PC Martin Tranmer of the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit via the 101 number.
