A JUDGE has raised concerns over a child sex offender’s “depraved” activities.

Judge James Adkin was speaking after imposing a nine-year prison sentence on Jett Robert Pease, who admitted five offences relating to sexual activity and incitement of a pre-teen child he groomed, including showing the youngster adult pornography.

Durham Crown Court heard that his offending came to light after a family member became aware of one offence and told Pease to report himself to police.

Although he partly confessed, the full extent of his activities were only admitted when re-interviewed two-and-a-half months later.

Describing his crimes as “offences of some depravity”, Judge Adkin said 29-year-old Pease, most recently of Plawsworth, near Chester-le-Street, should be subject to a year’s extended licence on release, at the behest of the Parole Board, as an offender “of concern”.

Pease must also register as a sex offender and be subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, both for life.
