A 30-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of stealing money inside a charity box.
Officers from Cleveland Police received a call at around 3.10am this morning, Friday November 15, reporting a break-in at the Ye Olde Durham’s Social Club on St Aidan’s Street.
A charity box had been smashed and the money inside stolen.
A man was reported to have left the premises on foot and headed towards Oxford Road.
Officers arrested the 30-year-old man nearby and he remains in police custody at this time.
A spokesperson from the force said: "Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone with further information is asked to contact Hartlepool CID on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 195989."
