TRIBUTES have been paid to a 'dearly loved' great grandmother who died in a road accident in Hartlepool.

86-year-old Jetta Jowsey, from Hartlepool, was taken to James Cook University Hospital with serious injuries after the incident on Friday, November 1 and she sadly died the following day.

The incident happened at around 10.35am on Friday, November 1 at the junction with Shrewsbury Street and Oxford Road and involved a black Vauxhall Insignia.

Mrs Jowsey's devastated family said today: “Jetta was a dearly loved mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

"We are devastated and would like to ask for privacy at this difficult time.”

Jetta left behind four children, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Officers are continuing to investigate the collision and would ask anyone who saw the incident or anyone who may have dash cam footage or CCTV footage which could assist their investigation to contact them.
