AN off duty police officer managed to seize a pair of pruning shears from a man who was displaying threatening behaviour on a Metro before he ran off.
Northumbria Police are now appealing for help to trace the suspect and have an issued a CCTV image of a man they want to identify.
The incident took place at 10.30am on Thursday, September 5.
Whilst travelling between Felling and Gateshead Stadium the man began to behave in a loud and abusive manner on a Metro and was confronted by an off-duty officer.
The man then produced a miniature pair of pruning shears, which were seized by the officer, but he then fled the train at Gateshead Stadium station.
Enquiries to identify and locate him are ongoing but the force has now released this image of a man we want to speak to.
