TWO teenagers have been charged following an attempted robbery at a village shop.

Police were called to the incident at Moscis Convenience Store on Sunderland Road, Horden, near Peterlee, at 7.20pm on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for Durham police said two intruders had entered the premises wearing balaclavas and attempted to steal several items.

One was arrested at the scene, while the second was arrested shortly afterwards.

A 15-year-old was charged with attempted robbery, and a 16-year-old was charged with attempted robbery and possession of a bladed article.

They will appear at Newton Aycliffe Youth Court on Friday, November 1.
