ROYAL Northern Sinfonia musical director and pianist Lars Vogt will take to the stage in a classical concert specifically for young fans at the weekend.

Classics 4 Kids invites budding youngsters to join the orchestra and Vogt to learn about classical music, the orchestra, and everything there is to know about the piano.

All About the Piano at Sage Gateshead, at 2pm on Saturday, includes a concert and an afternoon of fun and games for all the family.

Those attending will be able to members of the orchestra for free instrument demonstrations and have a go themselves, as well as enjoy musical craft activities on the Concourse.

During an interactive animateur Rachel Leach will lead activities for youngsters and their grown ups to join in with, too.

Speaking of the Classics 4 Kids Concerts, parent Andrea Johnson, of Darlington, said, “They are a great introduction to the orchestra for kids. My kids both tried playing different instruments and loved learning about different styles of playing.

“Rachel makes the music accessible with things to listen out for and actions to do. I couldn’t recommend Classics 4 Kids more highly.”

Classics 4 Kids concerts are most suitable for children aged five and over and their families, but everyone is welcome.
