A POLICE cordon has been placed along Selkirk Crescent, in Birtley, near Chester-le-Street, amid reports of an incident involving a knife.
Witnesses said several police cars and paramedics from the Great North Air Ambulance Service attended the scene.
One said: "We think a lad was stabbed and taken to hospital by the helicopter. The road is closed, but we don’t know how serious it is.”
Northumbria Police has been contacted for comment.
