POLICE have appealed to the public for information after a man was attacked on the High Level Bridge in Newcastle.

On Saturday, August 24, police received a report a man had been robbed while walking across the east side of the bridge, towards Gateshead.

Between 3.30pm to 4.15am it is believed two males crossed the road and ran towards the 26-year-old victim before knocking him to the ground and repeatedly punching and kicking him. The offenders then stole his mobile phone and money before leaving the scene and heading towards Gateshead.

Northumbrian Police officers want to speak to witnesses and to locate a member of the public they believe assisted the injured victim shortly after the attack. Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or email 7608@northumbria.pnn.police.uk quoting reference 909 240819.
