A woman remains in a critical condition following a fire in Coundon, in Bishop Auckland
A 74-YEAR-OLD woman remains in a critical condition following a fire in Coundon, near Bishop Auckland.
Four firefighters had to go into a terrace house at Eden Close, Coundon to rescue a woman, who was trapped inside just after 11.30pm on Tuesday night.
She was given medical treatment at the scene before a crew from the North East Ambulance Service took her to hospital.
A fire engine and special rescue unit from Bishop Auckland attended the fire, alongside two engines from Spennymoor.
No one else was in the home at the time.
A joint investigation was launched, and no suspicious circumstances were found.
