A VEHICLE has been seized and a motorist has been arrested following a police chase in a residential area.
The green Toyota was confiscated by PC Stewart Anderson and PC Martain Liddle on Park Road in Consett, at around 3.10pm on Tuesday.
The officers chased the suspect on foot after he tried to abandon the car.
The driver, a 30-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of several motoring, document and drug offences.
A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “A 30-year-old man abandoned the vehicle and made off on foot before being detained.
“He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving without a licence, driving without insurance, failing to stop and possessing the controlled drug cannabis.
“He has been released under investigation whilst enquiries are ongoing.”
