THE cats of the country took over a North-East leisure centre as the four-legged felines were judged based on their charming appearances at the weekend.

Organised by the Teesside Cat Club, the cat show took place on Saturday, August 25, with hundreds of proud cat owners and animal-lovers taking to Teesdale Leisure Centre in Barnard Castle.

At the show, a variety of breeds consisting of all shapes and sizes, waited in their own booths to be assessed.

Each cat was judged based on a point-scoring system, with some of the cutest, but grumpy-looking cats, awarded top prizes by show judges.

The Teesside Cat Club Shared Championships originally debuted at Teesdale Leisure Centre in summer 2016, with 247 cats fighting it out for the shows top prizes.
