Three crews from Middleton-in-Teesdale, Stanhope and Barnard Castle were the first to the scene where approximately 100 tonnes of hay was on fire.
A crew from Newton Aycliffe was subsequently deployed at lunchtime yesterday.
Firefighters worked through the night to get the fire under control.
Around five tonnes remained alight this morning so crews from Darlington and Consett were at the scene today.
