A TAEKWONDO club is celebrating after securing funding which has enabled them to refurbish their training centre.
The grant from the Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership (GAMP) has been used to help Team Warrior Taekwondo Club, in Newton Aycliffe, develop as they enjoy their newly refurbished training facility.
Funding awarded to the club has allowed them to successfully operate from the new facility at Aycliffe Business Park, which aims to contribute to the club’s sustainability.
The new equipment will be used by all members of the club and hopes to benefit the martial artists in preparation for future competition and gradings.
Chris and Michelle Howarth, instructors of Team Warrior TKD Aycliffe and the lead on the project said: “We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone involved in funding our project. We feel very fortunate to be able to hold our sessions, not only in our new training facility, but more importantly on a fully matted floor.
“The 20/20 body armour has been a great asset to our younger students, helping them to build confidence and perfect their technique as they try to score points whilst sparring one another. The feedback from all of our students has been very positive.”
The funding secured through GAMP was from the neighbourhood budget allocations of county councillors.
