A BRIDGE along the race route of the upcoming UCI World Championships is among the roads destroyed by flooding, casting doubt on whether it will now feature in the event.
The bridge over Cogden Gill, in Grinton Moor, was a popular viewing spot when riders of the opening stage of the Tour de France crossed it in July 2014.

It is also on the route of the Men's Elite Road Race for the prestigious UCI World Championships coming to Yorkshire from September 22 to 29.
Andy Hindley, the CEO of the organising body Yorkshire 2019, said: "At the current time, our thoughts are with those affected by the flooding.
"We will address any damage to race routes with North Yorkshire County Council in due course."

Several roads around Richmond, Leyburn, Reeth and Grinton were closed throughout Wednesday and North Yorkshire County Council’s executive member for highways, Cllr Don Mackenzie said they were working 24/7 across the Dales to clear the roads of debris.
The council also supported the fire service by managing traffic in areas where properties flooded, including several homes near Brentwood Close on the A684 at Leyburn where a small number of homes were left without water and electricity on Tuesday night.
The council, along with the other emergency responders, including Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team, also coordinated the rescue of seven people who were trapped on roads across the Dales by the sudden flooding.
Information on road closures is continually being updated and can be found at northyorks.gov.uk
