A TEENAGER has been warned he faces a substantial prison sentence after he admitted causing the death of a father and daughter by dangerous driving.

Mario Dzhambazov, who has just turned 18, was driving a BMW close to Guisborough on June 13 this year when he crashed into a Hyundai, killing the driver, 41-year-old Sarah Liddell, and her father Michael Liddell, 68, both from the East Cleveland area.

Dzhambazov, who had been living in Whitby, appeared at Teesside Crown Court today via videolink and pleaded guilty to two charges of causing death by dangerous driving, having no insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

A Bulgarian interpreter translated the proceedings for him.

Judge Simon Bourne Arton told him: “You will appreciate you are facing a substantial sentence of imprisonment.”

He adjourned the case for sentencing until September 9 and ordered a pre-sentence report to be carried out.

The defendant was remanded in custody.

Mr Liddell, of Moorsholm, died at the scene of the crash. His daughter Sarah, of Marske, suffered serious injuries and died at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
