Snipe Lane was cordoned off this morning while police carried out forensic inquiries
AN ALLEGATION of serious sexual assault is being investigated by police in Darlington.
Police sealed off part of Snipe Lane, not far from Blackwell Golf Club, off the A66, to carry out forensic inquiries this morning.The lane has now reopened.
Detective Sergeant John Tyers, of Darlington CID, said: “We are investigating an allegation of a serious sexual assault, which took place in the Snipe Lane area of Darlington last night.
“Both the suspect and victim are in their 20s and are known to each other. Although our inquiries are ongoing, police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the case.
“Officers were at the scene today and a temporary cordon was put in place to allow forensic work to take place.”
