A MAN accused of abusing two children has been found not guilty of numerous sexual offences over several years.

Kevin Robson, 55, was said to have forced one complainant to engage in indecent activity, touched them inappropriately and told them throw away clothing to remove evidence of his abuse.

But jurors unanimously found him not guilty of six charges of inciting a child into indecent activity and one charge of sexual assault against a child.

The decision was met with cries of relief from the public gallery and one family member ran out of the court room after shouting ‘thank god’.

Robson, who wore a grey suit and dark tie, remained expressionless as he was acquitted.

Teesside Crown Court previously heard Robson forced the infants to engage in indecent activity and inappropriately touched one of the complainants over a several year period.

He also allegedly bombarded the the pair with text messages after losing contact.

But Robson, who maintained his innocence throughout the investigation and trial, said he had “no idea” why the pair would fabricate the allegations and believed they were "poisoned" against him.

Acquitting Robson, of Merlin Court, Newton Aycliffe, Judge Stephen Ashurst said he was now “free to leave”.
