BRASS bands from all over the world took to the streets this weekend.

Despite rain on Saturday there were still plenty of people to entertain during the annual Streets of Brass festival in Durham city.

The two-day event showcased 21st century brass music from all over the world.

More than a dozen bands were playing throughout Saturday and today at locations around the city.

Other acts included Oompah Brass, the UK's original rock and roll oompah band and Mr Wilson's Second Liners, who pay homage to the die-hard days of the Hacienda and 90s club culture.

Other international bands included the Circus Brothers, from the Czech Republic, The Goat Stew Orchestra, which features musicians from the UK and Cuba, and The Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band.

It was one of the final events in Durham County Council's Brass Festival, which finishes today.

The festival finishes tonight with a West End themed evening at Wharton Park, Durham.

The free event features the Scotting Swing Orchestra and the Festival Broadway Chorus, who will be performing jazzy versions of musical theatre's greatest hits.
