A SERIES of dementia-friendly choir sessions will be held ahead of a festival featuring some of the world’s greatest roots artists in east Durham.

Jumpin’ Hot Club will be presenting The Country Cantina at the Barn, at Thorpe Lea East Farm, Easington Colliery, from noon to late on Saturday, July 27.

Among the artists appearing are The Strange Blue Dreams, Martin Stephenson & The Toe Rags, Rob Heron, The Jaywalkers, Awkward Family Portraits and Gem Andrews.

The event organisers are providing free dementia-friendly choir sessions and workshops leading to a dementia-friendly pop-up choir at this year’s festival, thanks to support from Durham Community Foundation and Durham County Council.

Drop in choir workshops will be at Blackhall Colliery Community Centre, from 11am to 1pm on Wednesday and Friday July 26, and at the Seaham Jubilee Centre, from 2pm to 4pm on Wednesday and Friday July 26.
