FOUR-legged friends were not in short supply as the annual Dogs Trust Darlington Fun Day got underway on Sunday.
Hundreds of dogs, of all shapes and sizes, gathered in the town before a dog show, market and craft stalls, tombolas and raffles took place at South Park.
Some dogs turned out in their best outfits and others posed for pictures.
The free event is run by Dogs Trust Darlington and is held each year as an effort to raise as much money as it can in support of the region's rescue dogs.
The funds raised from the family fun day go towards giving the dogs their home comforts in temporary accommodation, as they wait for their lifelong home.
Gordon Norrie of the charity said: “Every penny we raise goes towards the continued care and enrichment of the dogs at the Rehoming Centre, which is why it is important that we make Fun Day the best event it can be.”
