NEW teachers have been launched into the workforce after graduating from The Academy at Shotton Hall’s 'outstanding' school-based initial teacher training (Scitt) course.

Of the 85 trainees, 99% were graded good or outstanding, the highest outcome to date for the Scitt, with 15 per cent gaining employment within the North East Learning Trust.

Scitt director Lydia Lowery said: “Every year, I am astounded by the resilience, dedication, motivation and passion that our trainees personify, and this year they have demonstrated that they have the aforementioned in abundance.”

“Some real highlights spring to mind - from the buzz of the training room to seeing the trainees grow and develop into the skilled practitioners they are now. I wish them the best of luck in their new careers.”

Each of the graduates have now been recommended to the National College of Teaching and Leadership for Qualified Teacher Status with a final formal graduation ceremony from course partners, Durham University, for the PGCE element of the course in early 2019.

For anyone who is thinking of becoming a teacher, Shotton Hall Scitt still has places available for a September 2019 start.
