FIVE Cleveland Police officers joined 1,500 climbers from police forces all over the country on Friday to remember officers who have died on duty.
Detective Inspectors Jon Tapper and Matt Hollingsworth, Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Chris Motson, Detective Sergeant Darren Wild and retired former Detective Chief Inspector Gareth White started climbing Great Gable just before midnight to light beacons, and raise awareness of the Care of Police Survivors' Charity (COPS).
Sergeant John Sproson climbed Blencathra with another group.
Once they all reached the top, they lit beacons at around 3am, along with over a thousand other people, and lit up the sky to pay their respects to those who have lost their lives on duty.
