A MAN has been arrested following a suspected sexual offence in a Darlington churchyard.
A cordon was placed around part of St Cuthbert's churchyard in Darlington town centre following the incident in the early hours of Monday, June 17.
Today police confirmed that they have arrested a man and are treating the incident as a suspected sexual offence.
A Durham Constabulary spokeswoman said: “Police are investigating a suspected sexual offence which is believed to have taken place in St Cuthbert’s Churchyard, in Darlington, in the early hours of June 17.
“A man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is helping police with their enquiries.”
