A WOMAN has been attacked during a robbery at shop this morning.
The 23-year-old victim suffered bruising to her ribs when she was targeted at McColl's on Stockton High Street at 7.40am.
Cleveland Police said a man walked into the premises, demanded money and assaulted the woman in the shop.
A spokeswoman said: "As a result of the assault, the 23-year-old victim has suffered bruising to her ribs and is shaken from the incident.
"The man responsible is described as being a black male and he was wearing a balaclava, black joggers, a baseball style jumper, a flat cap and blue trainers. He was also carrying a dark brown/ red umbrella.
"Following the incident the man left the shop and has taken up to £80 worth of cash."
