A RARE collection of books and material from a publisher of 40 years' standing is coming up for auction.

Tennants in Leyburn is auctioning off the private collection of the late Marilyn Dugdale, nee Edwards, who worked in the trade for some of the biggest names in the business, on June 7.

Mrs Dugdale represented authors includingMartin Amis, Tony Benn, and Sebastian Faulks.

The collection includes numerous letters from authors, uncorrected manuscripts by the likes of Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Salman Rushdie, as well as numerous signed first editions and limited-edition publications. Highlights from the collection include Ted Hughes ‘Birthday Letters’, a 1998 signed limited edition estimated to sell at £200-300 plus buyer’s premium, as well as avant-garde material from the British Underground art scene.
