POOCHES of all shapes and sizes came together for a fun dog show in Darlington at the weekend.

The Cockerton Community and Business Group organised the first ever Cockerton Fun Dog Show, raising £175 for the charity Pets as Therapy.

The Age UK Ukelele band played a 45-minute set to launch the show and 150 dogs - plus their owners - came along, many more than organisers had expected.

There were about 130 entries for the ten categories which included waggiest tail, best biscuit catcher and

Organiser Kay Sandham said: "The weather was kind and over all it was a great community event. The dogs were all very well behaved and there was hardly any litter to pick up afterwards."

She said following its success it was now hoped the show would become an annual event.
