A TEENAGER suffered "significant" head injuries after the scooter he was riding collided with a car.
The 17-year-old boy, who was riding a Lexmoto Gladiator scooter, also suffered arm and leg injuries in the crash, which happened in Haswell Plough, in east Durham, at about 8.48am on Friday.
Police were called to the B1285 at Haswell Plough following reports of an accident involving a VW Golf car and a Lexmoto Gladiator scooter.
A police spokesman said: "The scooter was being driven by a 17-year-old male, who suffered significant head injuries as well as arm and leg injuries.
"The driver of the car, a 44-year-old woman from Newcastle, was uninjured, but suffered shock.She was the sole occupant of the vehicle."
The road was closed for several hours after the incident.
