TWO people have been arrested following a crash involving two vehicles on Tuesday evening.

A car fled from police before colliding with a yellow taxi a short time later on Brenda Road in Hartlepool.

Firefighters and paramedics attended the scene of the crash at around 9.15pm.

Police arrested a 35-year-old man, on the suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, failing to stop for police, disqualified driving, driving under the influence of drugs and having no car insurance.

A 22-year-old woman was also arrested.
