A MAN has appeared in court after police seized a haul of drugs from a car with an estimated street value of up to £100,000.
The seizure was made by officers after a black Seat Ibiza was stopped by police on St Oswald’s Green in Walker at about 2.20pm on Thursday afternoon.
Officers carried out a search of the vehicle and uncovered a shopping bag containing a 2kg block of white powder, suspected to be cocaine.
Enquiries into the drugs are ongoing but detectives in Northumbria Police’s Central CID have now charged the driver of the vehicle with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.
James Boon, 28, of Sedley Road, Wallsend, appeared before magistrates in Newcastle on Saturday. He was remanded in custody until May 20.
