Police direct an ambulance to the scene of the crash and divert motorists towards the A68
A BIKER was seriously injured following a crash near Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, on Monday, April 15.
The incident happened just after 7.30am on the southbound carriageway of the A6072 near Heighington Village.
It is believed the teenage rider of the Sym Jet scooter was travelling along the carriageway when he lost control of the bike on a right hand bend.
He fell from his machine and crashed into the kerb.
The impact caused serious injuries to the 19-year-old from Bishop Auckland, who was taken to The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough for treatment.
- Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to come forward and contact 101 quoting reference number 44 of April 15.
